Hello fellow zine librarian!
I'm reaching out on behalf of the Zine Librarian Interest Grouphttp://zinelibraries.info/, related to some groundwork we're doing for the development of a Zine Union Catalog: an online tool for wide discovery of zines and zine collections in libraries, archives and other settings. The group has been at it for the last three years (some of that involving previous IPRC zine librarian Lillian). We're hoping to expand our group to include more DIY library perspectives, since the union catalog we hope to build is intended to serve zine collections inside and outside the academy.
The IPRC collection and community have had valuable input into this already, and into the development of ZineCore (the catalog's underlying metadata schema) and we'd love to continue that, if you're game. If this sounds like something you're interested in participating in or hearing more about, we'd love to talk more with you. Milo Miller at the Queer Zine Archive Project and Jenna Freedman at Barnard College have been the closest to this (CC-ed). Feel free to respond to any of us and we can share details on the project and on the next group call.
Best,
Joshua Barton
