Hello zine librarians, archivists, and enthusiasts, We’re forming a Management Collective to update and manage the Zine Subject Thesaurus <https://anchorarchive.org/subject-thesaurus> and are looking for folks who want to join. If you have experience or knowledge of developing and maintaining controlled vocabularies or subject cataloguing, especially for zines and other alternative materials, that’s great! We’d also love to work with zine-makers, fundraisers, community archivists, and people with lived experience of different identities and experiences that the Zine Subject Thesaurus tries to include and represent in a thoughtful and accessible way. Moreover, we welcome folks who have some experience or knowledge and want to learn more. Basically, if the project excites you and you want to get involved, get in touch! * I know many of you are already involved with the Thesaurus, but please send a formal expression of interest if you want to stay involved and join the Collective. The Collective will meet once a month or as needed to add new terms to the Thesaurus, revise term records, create documentation and policies, broaden Thesaurus usage and accessibility, improve the platform and features, and administer and develop the project. The Zine Subject Thesaurus <https://anchorarchive.org/subject-thesaurus> is a set of subject terms that can be used to catalogue zines and other alternative publications or content. It’s designed to be flexible and accessible, with language that typical zine readers would use to search for content, and to include up-to-date terminology used by radical communities to refer to people, places, concepts, and movements. The Zine Subject Thesaurus was developed by the Anchor Archive Zine Library <https://anchorarchive.org/> in 2008 and is used by many zine libraries and archives and other alternative collections around the world. Over the last few years we have been working towards making the Thesaurus a collective project that is managed and developed by the zine community, and this is the next step in that process.
