Hello! This is my first time posting here. I am the convener for the ACRL Image Resources Discussion Group. Every Fall and Spring we host a meeting to discuss and present current topics in visual literacy. I am reaching out to see if anyone would be willing to present on zines. I am particularly interested in ways students can use zines to conduct research (field notes, for example) and share research results. That said, I would be very appreciative of any topics within zine making. The ACRL Image Resources Discussion Group (IRDG) provides a platform for ongoing discussions about the unique challenges of developing and supporting interdisciplinary visual resources in academic libraries. Our annual Fall meeting will be held virtually on November 19, from 10 to 11 AM EST via Zoom. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate Topic: From Zines to AI-Generated Images Students today are not just consumers of visuals; they are creators of them. From zines, infographics, comics, and stitched data to immersive AR layers and AI-generated collages, visual production is transforming how knowledge is created, shared, and experienced across fields. This is a chance to share innovative classroom practices, case studies, research findings, or creative experiments in progress. Lightning talks should inspire ideas, address challenges, or stimulate discussion rather than showcase polished results. When: November 19, 2025 Where: Online/Zoom Submission Deadline: November 7, 2025 Format: Lightning talks are limited to 10 minutes (plus time for Q&A).   Presentations on projects in the beginning stages or on research in progress are welcome. Please send a short description of your talk, along with your name, title, and affiliation to huber47@purdue.edu.   Possible topics: - Student-created visuals as research, creation, and dissemination (zines, comics, handmade books, infographics, etc.) - Critical and social justice visual literacies: power, identity, and representation in student work - Multimodality, hybridity, and transmedia learning - Materiality and “slow craft” in contrast with digital/AI tools - Visualization literacy, data storytelling, and physicalizations - Visual autoethnography, reflexivity, and identity exploration - Interactivity, branching, and non-linear visual narratives - Ethics, remix culture, and accessibility in visual design - AI, generative imagery, and prompt literacy as parts of visual literacy   Meeting Agenda & Registration Info: Register for the meeting by using this registration link.
