[Zine Librarians] 20th birthday of the Anchor Archive Zine Library

The Anchor Archive Zine Library https://anchorarchive.org/ celebrated its
20th birthday this year!  It's not easy for scrappy, volunteer-run zine
libraries and archives to survive so I wanted to share the news. In October
we had a birthday party with zine readings, zine trades, and cake. A local
news outlet wrote an article about us
https://www.ctvnews.ca/atlantic/nova-scotia/article/halifax-zine-library-turns-the-page-with-20th-birthday/.
Anchor Archive founders Sarah Evans and Son Edworthy recorded a video
conversation about how they started this special space. You can watch the full
version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Slu8fI08gj0 and a short version
with pictures https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hOctH5qD6YU that was
screened at the party on YouTube.

Earlier this year, the DIY arts space called Radstorm
https://www.radstorm.org/ that the Anchor Archive is now a part of
successfully fundraised to buy the building it lives in, so we hope for at
least another 20 years of supporting zine-making and zine community in
Kjipuktuk (Halifax).

And a funny story about AI... a woman from Japan came to the party and I
asked her how she heard about it.  She said she typed into ChatGPT, "What
can I do in Canada? I like writing, drawing, and making things" (or
something like that) and Chat GPT told her she should make a zine!  Then
she searched "zines Halifax" and found the Anchor Archive.  I guess zines
really are getting popular again.

Warm regards,
Amanda
