🦌Dear ZLuCker,

🥕This is going to be an information-rich email, so please take a swig of
carrot juice (or whatever helps you concentrate) and prepare to dig in!

🥄First up, some well-being requests

Multiple registrants have noted scent sensitivities, so please no
perfume, cologne, or scented anything.

We understand that people have different levels of comfort with masking
regulations. COVID is way up in NYC. Per our COVID Policy
https://www.zinelibraries.info/wiki/zluc-nyc-2024/covid-policy/, this
will be a masked event. We'll have a stock of KN95s on hand. We appreciate
your compliance, even if you aren't personally concerned. Mask for those
who are.

It's hard to get COVID tests these days. We'll provide however as many
we can, but if you have tests, please use them before traveling. If you
have any to share, bring 'em.

🖐️And now, we need some help to show our attendees care. Here's a form
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdZBL77O8BLSjydutervWWG5o804x6EQ9KBNlaUALTdmRH6Kw/viewform
to sign up for volunteer duties.

🕸️Our website includes some important policies and other information we
want everyone to be aware of:

Code of Conduct
https://www.zinelibraries.info/wiki/zluc-nyc-2024/zluc-2024-code-of-conduct/

Statement on heightened security and police presence at NYU
https://www.zinelibraries.info/wiki/zluc-nyc-2024/statement-on-heightened-security-and-police-presence-at-nyu/

COVID Policy
https://www.zinelibraries.info/wiki/zluc-nyc-2024/covid-policy/

We'll have a Care Team to whom you can address any concerns or
violations: Violet Fox, Anna Glassman, Lauren Kehoe, Destinee Thom, and
Kelly Wooten. They’ll be wearing buttons on the days of the event, so
you’ll know who they are. (Thank you, Care Team!)

🛏️Housing

We need to confirm our housing needs with NYU by July 12.

You can still sign up (Google Form) https://forms.gle/oax7G3mC7MZ2ZzX89,
even if you didn't previously indicate interest.

The cost is $130/night for a single. If you’re housing with your
partner, it will be $170/night ($85/per person for a shared room). NYU
allows spouses that are attending the conference together to

share rooms by
having each participant reserve a shared space instead of a single space.
The nightly rate for a shared space is $85 a night per person. This means
that the housing cost of the participant and their spouse would
be $170 per
night.
-

We've finalized the payment options for NYU housing during ZLuC
2024. You have three options and FINAL payment will need to be made by
Friday, August 2, 2024 (before ZLuC officially begins). Of

course, payment
can be made before then as well! :-)
-

     Pay via Eventbrite <https://zluc2024nyuhousing.eventbrite.com/>,
which takes credit cards. This option comes with a fee to use and the
price of the fee is included in the "ticket" cost. There are

two options
to choose--a two night stay or a three night stay.  You must stay in
housing Friday and Saturday nights, but you can add on a
Thursday OR Sunday
night stay as well.  Please indicate the duration of your
stay on the form
below.
-

Pay me via Venmo @Lauren-Kehoe-3 which will not include a fee. In
the note, indicate that it's for ZLuC (and if your full name

is not clear
from your username, please also include that in the
note--I'll need this
information to match with registration details).
-

Pay me via a personal check that can be sent to my home address.
The check should be made out to NYU. If you choose this

option, indicate
it on the form, and I will follow up directly to share my address.
-

Rooms are available Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights. However, if you
require additional nights, please contact Lauren Kehoe at
lsrkthelibrarian@gmail.com or lsk221@nyu.edu.

📺Virtual participation

There will be one session that consists of pre-recorded presentations.
Unfortunately, due to capacity limitations, that is the only virtual option
this year.

An idea we're floating is that ZLuC could alternate yearly between
in-person and totally virtual events. (See IZLuC 2020
http://zinelibraries.info/wiki/zluc2020/ for an example of an online
event.)

🎉We have an "all-staff" meeting on Monday, July 8, 1-2:20pm Eastern time
US. All are welcome! Here's the Zoom link https://nyu.zoom.us/j/94911039810
.

🍜Organizers are deep in excitement (and a soupçon of stress) about the
unconference, and we hope you are, too, but maybe without the soup.

With warmth,

Destinee, Gina, Jenna, and Lauren

Hi Everyone,

Thanks to the person who let me know the volunteer form wasn't working
properly. I have feelings about the way my institution locks down our
Google apps. Anyway, it should be working now!
