Hello, I have a request for helping me distribute a zine that aims to raise awareness and help raise money for pro-immigrant efforts (especially those that help fight ICE in the U.S) and I was wondering if I could learn what the options are for collaborating with zine libraries, as it is an unfamiliar concept to me. I’ve recently created a 32 page zine about my experience immigrating to the U.S twice, including as an undocumented small child, and being forced to self-deport twice, called “Second Chance Immigrant”. For reference, you can find it here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1g1ii2g_BmNIzzb2FcM-pU-5Rm74Jafc9?usp=sharing I don’t want to profit off this zine or sell it — both because my new visa as an immigrant in Spain forbids me from making any income, and because my ultimate goal for making the zine is to encourage people to donate to grassroots efforts that resist ICE and protect immigrants’ rights. So I am planning on making the PDF for the zine available as a free digital download on my website, something I have not announced publicly yet but plan to within the next couple of weeks. I thought I would also propose the idea of sending physical copies to zine libraries (or having them printed locally in each) either for a borrowing system with the encouragement of anyone taking one to donate towards this cause (especially local grassroots efforts), or even a system of putting a price on it via collecting the money to go towards donations, or even letting visitors take one home in exchange for them donating directly to a specific group (such as the Immigrant Defense Project that runs ICE OUT NYC, for example) on the spot and showing receipt/proof. I'm open to hearing any ideas you may have to achieve something like this, or simply learn more about the possibilities of hosting this zine at any in-person or virtual zine libraries. Thank you! Hi Ali, Looking at your comic/zine, one thing I noticed is that I think you've formatted this for A4 paper size. This means that it unfortunately won't print "properly" for anyone in the US or Canada (and some other places) since those countries use a different paper size. You can see this most clearly on the cover when you attempt to print it as a booklet as there are large white bars at the top and bottom of the images. [image: image.png] If this isn't something you care about, then that's fine! But since you said you'd like to make this available for places in the USA/Canada to download and print, I recommend reformatting it to fit letter-sized paper (8.5 x 11 inches). For a half-sized zine, you'd want each page to be 5.5 x 8.5 inches. If you'd like to finish your sentence that'd be helpful but I think I get it and I will look into resizing the document. The only physical copy I have so far is about A5, at least I thought, but I'm not an expert on this so I'll go back and look into it more so that I can ultimately have a US-friendly printable file hosted.
