[Zine Librarians] Information on a riot grrrl / punk videotape

Hi everyone,
I got my hands on a copy of the "ROCK N ROLL JAMBOREE" videotape and am
screening it for the teens at my library's zine club. It was put out by
Connect-the-Dot Productions (Somerville MA), with performances by Unwound,
Tiger Trap, Mary Lou Lord, Slant 6, and Velocity Girl. The name listed on
it is Tina Spangler, but I cannot find a date or any information online.
The closest I can find is that Slant 6 was in existence 1992-1995. If
anyone can point me in any direction, it would be much appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Jeremy

Hi there,

Try Discogs.comhttps://www.discogs.com/.  I found almost all of the groups you name, but I can’t tell if they are exact matches. From the dates I found, I would use somewhere between 1993 and 1995. Total range of dates of groups 1989-2002.

Good luck and happy hunting,

Tina Spangler made Femme Flicke
https://clio.columbia.edu/catalog/5630003 zine
starting in 1994 if that helps? I can look for a reference to ROCK N ROLL
JAMBOREE.

Thank you all for this information! I was hoping the tape was listed on
Discogs but unfortunately VHS is outside of their scope. I also just found a
listing on concertarchives.org
https://www.concertarchives.org/concerts/tiger-trap-slant-6-the-magnetic-fields-monawhich
indicates Tiger Trap and Slant 6 played in Cambridge MA together in 1993,
though Unwound was in a different part of the country on those dates.

Hi again,

I had mentioned this separately to Jeremy, but there are two different
recordings of Slant 6 available through the Arthur Freedman collection of
VHS recordings featuring local rock shows. More information about the two
shows in the collection with Slant 6 are here

and here
https://hollisarchives.lib.harvard.edu/catalog/hfa00028_hfa00028c01732,
but neither of them are from summer 1993.

More soon,

Sorry for my many messages, this will be my last one to the listserv for
today!

Issue #5 of Femme Flicke features an advertisement on the back page (before
back cover) for the live music compilation Rock 'n Roll Jamboree. I took a
cellphone photo of it (attached). Love that Heavenly (!!) was involved,
whose more recent album I've played on repeat.

Enjoy,
Mimosa

Hi everyone,

I got my hands on a copy of the "ROCK N ROLL JAMBOREE" videotape and
am screening it for the teens at my library's zine club. It was put out by
Connect-the-Dot Productions (Somerville MA), with performances by Unwound,

indicates Tiger Trap and Slant 6 played in Cambridge MA together in 1993,
though Unwound was in a different part of the country on those dates.

Hi there,

Try Discogs.com https://www.discogs.com/.  I found almost all of
the groups you name, but I can’t tell if they are exact matches. From the
dates I found, I would use somewhere between 1993 and 1995. Total range of
dates of groups 1989-2002.

Subject: [EXTERNAL] [Zine Librarians] Information on a riot grrrl
/ punk videotape

Hi everyone,

I got my hands on a copy of the "ROCK N ROLL JAMBOREE" videotape and
am screening it for the teens at my library's zine club. It was put out by
Connect-the-Dot Productions (Somerville MA), with performances by Unwound,
Tiger Trap, Mary Lou Lord, Slant 6, and Velocity Girl. The name listed on
it is Tina Spangler, but I cannot find a date or any information online.
The closest I can find is that Slant 6 was in existence 1992-1995. If
anyone can point me in any direction, it would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Jeremy
