Per our last call, I volunteered to check in with Elissah about Dublin
Core/xZINECOREx. Here's what she said:
I think mapping DC to RDA and other cataloging codes is smart for the back
end of the Zine Union Catalog. I spent a lot of time making sure that
MCTC’s xZINECOREx follows DC rules and practice. I also understand which
elements aren’t perfect, so if we dump MCTC Zine data into the Zine Union
Catalog I can tell you which elements are extra and won’t map. I’ve
attached my xZINECOREx element guide: 1st column is DC elements, 2nd is
MCTC ZC elements. Only “Genre” is an outlier in my metadata. Though, I
may have some legacy stuff from early cataloging practice here at MCTC.
She has a conflict this semester, which is why she hasn't been able to
participate in the calls. Another reason summer can't come soon enough!
I uploaded the spreadsheet Elissah referenced to Github
https://github.com/MiloQZAP/xZINECOREx/blob/master/MCTC-FinalxZINECORExElementGuide.xlsx
(xlsx).
