It feels like 655 _7 Zines $2 lcgft already allows for identification of cataloged items that are zines, no? Although I suppose I could see some places that may want to use 650 _0 Zines $v Specimens if they are maybe just dipping their toes into the world of zines...

I use the 655 as you demonstrated (and abhor Zines $v Specimens while
simultaneously employing Letterpress $v Specimens ¯_(ツ)_/¯ )

But when one searched our catalog, one used to get books about zines, which
of course now that I'm trying to document the problem, it's not happening.

From a Columbia cataloger:

I thought this proposal to revise a MARC fixed field to include codes for
Zines and Podcasts in, would be interesting to you and others in the Zine
cat community:

Zine cataloging all stars--this seems huge, like if this happens we'll be
able to identify cataloged items that are zines, and maybe people will
stop applying Zines as a 650?

Please discuss!

I do not speak for my institution (and my institution does not speak for
me)
Fridays are dedicated cataloging days. I will respond to messages I
receive on Fridays the following week.
